Default One more thing... 1-2 shifts

I have one other problem with the car right now. It's done this for the entire 2+ years I've owned it; the 1-2 shift is early. All my gears used to shift early, but I tightened up the throttle cable and now they shift fine except for the 1-2 shift comes just about 4200 rpm full-throttle. It seems like I have read about others having this very problem before, but now I can't find the info in a search. Is there a fix for it?

Manually shift it. Start off in 2 throttle hard, throw lever to 3 and immediately pull back down to 2, then shift normal through gears. Really changes the attitude of the beast. Outside of the manual mode I have no idea why the shift would be early, sorry. I drove my car for two years before I found out it needs to be driven like this to have fun. Always wondered about the early shift in manual.

This also explains the slow 1/4 time.......it should hold to redline in every gear......my 88 auto shifts at 6200 in every gear from "D"....I never tried manually shifting it since it works fine in "D".....

Try tighting the bowden cable to get it to hold 1st longer!!

Including 1st?

My car shifts 1/2 around 5500 and then shall rev out in 2nd before third and revs out again before 3/4. Is there an issue?

I think I have a bigger issue than the bowden cable, as it is tight. Also, the manual shifting mode produces the same results as in "D". Could someone tell me what the procedure for more adjustments would be?

I've heard later (2.54 rear end) S4's are supposed to shift at 5500 rpms.....mine has always shifted at redline when its floored.......BUT.....kickdown function and all other cables were calibrated when Devek did the engine replacement? One thing I did notice is that if its even a little less than totally floored it will shift earlier......

Its possible that the 1-2 modulator valve is sticking...this is a common problem that can be as simple to fix as changing your tranny fluid...BTW how old is the fluid?

Transmission fluid is about a year and a half old, I had most of the tranny seals replaced at that time. I just pulled off my shift assembly and discovered that both locking bars have snapped off. One was lying inside, and the other is missing. Don't know, but maybe this is why the manual shift mode doesn't work.

Just had the car out for a very spirited 60kms (yes it warmed up some today)..............it absolutely shifts 1 to 2 @ 5400 WOT but holds to red line 2 to 3 and 3 to 4.........normal for a auto with a 2.20 rear?
