Sharks at Daytona OktoberFast

Plenty of places to eat around the track, but I will be glad to set the grill up and do a bar-b-que at the RV. Sounds like a killer idea. I'd say we shoot for Sat. night for that.

Thats what I'm talkin about Ross, I'm putting you down as a sure thing. Russ, lets coordinate on the Barbecue. We already have a few theme oriented recipes in mind. White Shark chili comes to mind. We could also smoke a few picnic hams and grill veggies. Saturday could be an assault on the olfactory senses, from avgas to sunscreen and hickory/oak. I also propose a "SandSharks" photo-op right on the beach at some point. G

Russ, lets toss our ideas about right here on this thread, in order to keep it on or near the front page. We need to score some serviceable tables and always can use extra chairs. Whatever you enjoy cooking enhances the experience. We can, and will cook anything that sounds intriguing. With hopes that others will help cover expenses. Sushi tempura rolls are usually a big hit. Sounds like an oxymoron but it's the "fried icecream" of the sushi set. Crispy, yet the raw contents are unmolested. G

I don't see why we can't all bring a cooler stocked with grillable goodies. Theres no need for one person to try and foot the majority of the bill for everyone. Maybe we should make a list of what will be needed and people can sign up to bring different items. Tables will be a bit difficult for us non-locals. But food and drinks are easy enough.

I'll try and bring a couple "Home Depot" style long tables if I can get them. I agree that everyone can and should bring what they want to eat. I just like the opportunity to try new and interesting things while at a PCA event. I'm sure many of us will agree that, as a group, we don't get the time of day from the air-cooled set. That being said, we can sure make them think twice about their mindset.
Do I care what they think?---No. But I know how to help enrich a party, and I am prepared to do so. I'll bring what I like to cook and drink.(imagine that This just seems like a fun time to pull out a few of the stops. I'm sure I'll be cooking up some good stuff. Come join me in the chum slick.G

I got the tables and chairs no problem.
And Fabio421 is right, bring your own meat and we got the grill.
George, I have no doubt that you will bring something interesting.
We just need a bunch of sharks to show up! Sebring was good fun, but we need a better showing this time for sure.

Absent fresh commitments, lets focus on bringing one or two extra sharks with each of us. Defacto sponsors if you will. The cumulative result of each of our local efforts, plus those of you who have friends in the neighboring states can make a difference. I'll bring my own meals and extra for those who wish to partake. Regardless, it'll be interesting. I'll figure out some things that can be slow cooked and present "shovel food", for a quick sandwich, etc.

As far as available RV hookups, that shouldnt be a problem. They have 100,000 people at the Daytona 500 with the infield packed with RVs, so a PCA race won't have nearly that kind of demand. The co-chair of the event with PCA assured me last month that there will be plenty of room to accomodate us.
