Default Bent rear suspension bolt

I changed wheels and tires to the 17" Kumho Ecsta MX in preperation for 928s on the Autobahn 9/19/06. I noticed the rear driver's side had a bent supension bolt, #27 on page 4-6 of Workshop Manual 5. I think I can get another made as it looks to be just a straight bolt threaded on both ends. I'm puzzled as to how it got bent. Last week I noticed the back was a little squirrely when I was on a right turn freeway entrance ramp . I chalked it up to the wet road and so so tires. Now I'm of a different opinion thinking it is the bent suspension bolt.

Rick;

I couldn't find the bolt you reference in manual #5.

Let me know which one you need and I'll throw one your way.

I've seen this several times,usually in manual cars cars with worn struts and clutch dumping. Rear wheel hop bends the shaft. I have been able to straighten the shaft each time with no problems.

Thanks Scott, it's the swaybar bolt. I'll straighten it and add some tubing around it for reinforcement.

Zeus+, I don't get wheel hop but do have more intense launches sinse the SC.

The repair is done, tonight I'll go to the same right turn entrance ramp and see how it feels. How can I tell if there are worn struts? I have Bilstein dampers and Eibach springs and a bar connecting the shock towers at the top. It may be a combination of increased stiffness and power that led to failure, I don't know. Not very bloody likely that the reinforced bolt will bend again.

The shaft I thought you meant is #11, #27 is a link with mounting bushings on the ends ? Glad it's all fixed.

It is # 27 in the picture Zeus+ posted. I have work to do at home tonight so won't be able to try the long right turn but I made a couple of shorter right radius turns and it felt better; didn't have any lefts to take at speed.
