Default 87 s4 Pivate sale,, should I ????

Again, bitten by the 928 bug 2 years ago.. I am again looking at newer 28's.

I have a 79 euro... for how old the car is it's nice and a 5 speed.

I have a line on a 87 s4 auto blk on blk. needs front seat work but the rest of the interior is a 8 out of 10..... I give the whole car an 8 out of 10. TB and WP done about a year ago. about 100,000 miles. AT, good paint... 8 out of 10... asking 8500.00 but i was told by someone that knows the guy the car can be bought for in the low 7's...... should I? What do you think i can get out of my 79?
My 79 is a 5 spd. it does need syncros but is very drivable the way it is.
runs good.... fresh paint, 95% of all options work.. im thinking 3500-4??? quick, 4-5 local if i sit on it?

That sounds like a good deal. '87 is a great year. Sure you're ready to give up the manual?

If the PPI checks out it's a good deal. Make your offer.

yeah I know, this is my only reserve...... But ill tell ya.. driving this 5 speed is kinda clunky... the car just wants to go faster around town.... I feel like i am shifting all the time. around town I go from 1 to 3, skip second... there is enough torque there to handle that. but i still feel like i am shifting all the time... You wanna hear something funny.... I dont think i have had this car over 60MPH yet...... Im breaking her in gently after the years of storage. I take her aorund town, to the store, to the office if i have to go after hours.. ( i make excuses to go now.. and jump at the chance to go to tthe store for the wife. she thinks i have a girl friend.. and i do, shes agent 928....) Once in a while i will jump on her from light to light (the 928)... but this exhaust i have on gets soooo freaking loud..... she is like the school teacher.. timid by day... wind her up after dark and hold on to your ***.......these local guys did a great job on the old pipes.. they did what i told them.. keep it quite till i really get on it..... so i dunno if i want to go AT

In my opinion open pipes on a 16V engine sound so much better than on the S4's. I think you'll be alright with an auto, just get a Jager or momo shift **** to replace the T handle. You can shift it like a tiptronic.

I took another owner on the fun run at SITM and after he changed his shorts he made the comment that I will never look at the auto the same way again. The difference in performance is so negligable and when you want a night on the town with out rowing it around stick it in drive and it is way easier. Manually shifting gives you exciting performance without one leg being larger than the other. I still like the manliness of a 5 speed and am converting one from auto to stick (shhh don't tell roger). But I still love the the auto and it is bullet proof.

I have an identical car. It's as strong as new, after almost 20 years. There a few little annoying things I need to fix when I get time, but nothing major. At that price, it sounds like a fair deal.
