So, your picture depicts what happens when you swallow one of your freshly-plated fasteners and retrieve it after 'processing?'
Some fasteners should not be re-plated. Trouble is, it's not always obvious before it's plated.

Actually Dave, you should call Mark Anderson and buy 928 hardware by the ton/tonne and send it to the PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service) to have it graded before plating.
