Way ahead of you, the modified door tracks, spring , and wall mounted Liftmaster 8300W is here. Just trying to find the time to install it.
Lift up first, and testing it with a car on it realized I had just enough room to fit both cars as I waited for the parts needed to make everything fit even better.
Funny thing about the "guru door installer" - more difficult to find than you would think. This was one job I simply didn't want to mess with, so I called every garage door company within 100miles of Green Bay. Only a couple of them had any clue what a high lift track install was and only one sounded interested in doing the job (in like a month), so I decided to install everything myself.

A guru level garage door installer should be able to run your door track much closer to the ceiling.
They'll probably need to put in a different radius where the track curves from vertical to horizontal.
If you also have them install a wall mounted opener, you'll have much more room for the car, without as much fear of raising that lift right into the track.
As an added bonus, they are DC and run very quietly. Plus, mine came with a deadbolt that snaps into place once the door is down, helping prevent someone from prying the door open.

But seriously I like that style of opener. Something I definitely will consider in the next house. I'll be curious to hear your thoughts on how easy/hard self-installation was.

Since we have a radio theme today. I have just had a Becker Grand Prix installed.
Very pleased with it, has integrated Bluetooth connectivity installed in the unit.
