Might be usable with 16 snow tires, but with 275/17 on rear, a lot of excitement is forthcoming. Mac

It's all in the tires. With summer tires I got stuck in 1/2" of snow in my 928, had to get towed home. With new all season tires it's pretty good, but wouldn't want to be out in heavy snow.

I drive a Z28/LT1 for a winter car - Michelin Ice-X on all 4 corners. We do weekly ski trips to Vermont with no problems. Routinely passing all the little girls in the big SUVs in deep snow.

928 is one of the best winter cars I know. Very warm and has neutral handling. Its up to driver not to go too fast that it would get out of hand.

Ive driven my car , just before it was committed to being a track car to a downhill ski race at Mammoth. it was supposed to be a beautiful weekend, but i got caught at tahoe in a driving snow storm, without chains and still made it all the way on the 6 hour drive to Mammoth. at one point, i got out of my car at the summit, and i couldnt even see a space between tire and fender, the snow was packed in so tight, i couldnt make a U turn ! i made it, it was a little dicy, but the car was awesome. warm, comfortable and the handling driving for3 hours on a snow packed hyway at 7000-8000feet was a piece of cake!

Ill have see if i can find some video of that trip. i remember, taking some of the car and the driving snow storm at the summit late in the night. I remember when i got to the condo at mammoth, i couldnt climb the last hill in all the fresh snow. i ended up getting a running start in reverse out of someones driveway, to climb the 200ft hill backwards, as forwards was hopeless. after 50 tries, i finally made it. i jumped out of the car, it stopped snowing and i ran around the car like Rocky!

When i think of all the things my 928s have done over the past 20 years, i just smile!

This is why I never saved any money during my twenties

Shiney boat and color-matched new truck. 1989 I believe. And there is the front corner of my first 928, a silver over black 79' euro. Soon got sick of boat upkeep/gas bills and sold it to pursue cheaper hobbies like playing with 928's...

Agree!! My second back up car is a Trans Am/LT1 and with Goodyear Eagle Ultra Grips (225-60-16) it handles very well. I would imagine that a 928 with a much better weight distribution would be even better. The PO of my '85 drove the car all year around. I know this casue all 4 tires were Bridgestone Blizzaks.

Elliot,

When did you step over to the dark side?

Worf, Do I see a 911 under the covers?

What is happening 928 owners with 911's and 911 owners with 928's.

Can this be?
