Default I think I found the source of the leak

So...first guess is the pan was warped or dropped when forged...second is someone did a chin-up on the opposite side? (((Sigh)))

based on the wedge marks at the corner , the pan was glued onto the girdle,
someone used a hammer and chisel to pop it off thus bending the corners and leaving the bevel in the metal

Oh man, that's just horrible to see..my eyes hurt. Some shouldn't be allowed to touch any tools...... Agree with Mr.Merlin, a botch with a chisel and no brain...

can it be "unbent" realistically? When the car gets engines for repaint I figured I'd just replace it. For now some RTV in that corner under Rogers super gasket seemed to resolve it to get it drivable.
