Ever since going to SITM 2006 I knew I had to get a 5 speed S4/GTS or GT. I was lucky to find a nice 1991 GT in CA from a fellow rennlister. Before we agreed on the price, the SG S4 was put for sale on rennlist. I pondered on the idea (I really wanted the 91 GT). But the SG had all the goodies that I wanted to add to the GT and it would have cost about $5K less. A quick surprise from Andrew O. (thank you btw) helped seal the deal as long as the car had more power than a n/a S4.
The only problem was flying to CA and it was not an option. My family was coming to spend 2 weeks vacation in the US and I already used all my vacation days for them. Brendan C was kind enough (another key person helping close the deal) to offer to look at the car that same day (day 2). In 2 hours he called me back and said the car performed well but there was a smoke issue which was, a good thing! J
So within minutes I called the owner and told him we had a deal. I sent him a deposit to secure the car the next day. I went to a web site searching for shipping companies and got about 30 quotes in about a day. I have to say I did a lot of research and finally decided to go with the most reliable shipper. Still it did not feel good b/c it would take them about 3 weeks to deliver the car (not guaranteed). One day after booking with the company I changed my mind, it did not sound right for the car to go from driver to driver. Thursday morning I called Intercity Lines and they had a spot on their truck and guaranteed delivery by next Saturday. In a few minutes they faxed me a contract. My wife and I drove to the bank, got a Cashier Check, went to USPS and did 1 day delivery to the truck driver and went back home. The driver got the check on time the next day and picked up the car as agreed. We got the car in AL the following Saturday. Now, that is service! No issue whatsoever and I highly recommend them!
Unfortunely the pics were taken today when the power steering hose walked again toward the radiator hose. I ended up cutting it and drove back home with no issue. The car drives great and I changed the pulley to a 57 mm pulley. The car really like the 8 lbs boost J.
I also wanted to thank Bdonaldson for the advice on the car. The car is everything that I was told. Sure, had some small issues like a leaky front windshield and dirty interior but I followed Andrew’s on the waterleak fix and $15 fixed that.

Don't forget to do something about the lower radiator hose that is too close to the powersteering pulley. Normal issue for those kits.

Nice buy, I really like the color. You staying with those wheels? And what brand are they? They sure fit the era that car was built in! Are those the wheels you are considering having plated?
Congrats!

Abby, those are Forgelines 17". They are not my cup of tea but I will keep them for now and probably have them chromed after I fix the power steering belt syndrome.
Brendan, Pete was kind enough to install a new lower radiator hose as per your recommendation :-). Unfortunately he did not install the OB hose and the belt ate through it.

Keep the wheels.
Correct offset in the front. Nice and lightweight and strong.
I like dark centered wheels. They look mean.
Plus hides brake dust when you don't get a chance to clean them often.
Will need those wheel brush to get between the spokes.

Nice. I really like the color and wheel combo. Black wheels look right with this color. I'm looking forward to a GTG once I get mine out of the shop. I'm sure I'll be seeing a lot of the rear view of your new beauty when we go for a drive.
