- Hacker, the motor mounts are only 2 years old and still pristine.

- Bill, the driver side is still firm. Lemme see what it looks like tonight. Defintely starting on the passenger side anyway.

- Andrew, crows feet and u-joint are in the toolbox.

- Jim G, lemme make sure I have gas for the torch.

- Jim, AC compressor can come down, no problem. I don't have the ball joint boot. The joint is tight and all the boots look surprisingly good. I will be careful with that. I have some balljoint press tools, although I have not had to use them before. Carl's directions do not cover that part of the job.

Garth: People often mention linking open spanners. I've never quite understood how that is done. What forms the link?

Bill. I think what he means is to slide a smaller diameter wrench through the opening of a larger wrench to offer more leverage. Kind of like when you slide a three foot section of pipe over the end of a lug wrench to break those tight nuts loose. I'm at work now so I can't snap a pic of the wrench set-up. I'm sure you will figure it out. If I were closer I'd come help. I'll be down on Fri for the Good Guys show at Pleasenton. Guess that won't do you any good this time.

Mark & Garth - I've spent a lot of time trying to get two open end wrenches to hook together. Looks like one end must be closed box! Explains that!

Bill thanks for the mental image of you trying to fit two open end wrenches together. Nice to see someone whose ego does not impare their ability to learn But Shane is just plain perverted....

You're a good guy, Bill. I wish I were closer so I could give you a hand

Bill, are you doing the job tonight? I have a client meeting tomorrow morning early, but might be able to offer a hand or two for awhile. I just got out of debtor's prison and am still broke, so I have no money to spend on decadent things. Do you know how to get the bushings on the part? I thought they needed to be pressed on (?).

OK, dumb question number two:

Just WHY do you have to remove the A-arm to replace this bushing?

I've studied Carl's instructions and it looks the me like you could destroy the old bushing and pick it out, lube up the new bushing and rig something to push it in from the ends.

What am I missing here?

Removing the valve covers improves access greatly, just my 0.02c.

Oh, great, now you guys want me to remove more things! I'm going to try this without removing anything by the nut and washer on the end of the bushing shaft. And I'm going to do this behind my back, blindfolded with the wheels still on the car, using nothing but my bare hands!

Bill, Mark at Devek uses a bearing press to install my new bushings. Just a thought. I know you have been working out, but ...........you may need to have been eating several cans of spinach a day to do this job bare handed. Well, maybe no one has thought of doing it this way or someone simply wanted to increase the labor charge, or..... Anyway, if you need someone to help out, I can cheer you on.
