Default Radiator Common Leaks

We all know the end tanks like to fail and mix coolant and oil. But I've seen a number of end tank leaks at the passenger side of automatics, where oil/tranny fluid DOES NOT mix with coolant, just leaks out all the coolant at the end tank seam. Has anyone else seen this? I suspect the heat from the tranny causes this.

Mine had a hairline crack around the upper tranny fluid filler neck.

The trans side is the HOT side on the radiator coolant right from the engine the drivers side is the cool side so less prone to leaks from repeated expansion contraction ...heat is our enemy !

I hate to bring up an old thread, but, this is exactly what is happening to me. I really don't want to rip the whole rad out, but, has anyone figured out away to locate and seal a crack or leak in the passenger side tank? If I could find the leak or crack I could put some epoxy on it. Any advise would be appreciated. Just how much pressure runs through the trans cooling system, anyway? Thanks, Greg

I found a large wrench going through the radiator will cause a pretty massive leak.

Ripping the whole rad out is the simplest task on a 928. Other tasks get progressively more difficult from there. And epoxy will not seal a rad, so I recommend pulling it and having it fixed or replaced.

Hey H,

How is your tank holding up from the place that fixed it in Renton? (Renton Radiator?)

I have the part from 928intl and will need to pull my Rad soon.

Thanks guys, I was figuring that I would need to pull it. I might get one of those Alluminum ones from Devek, Wasn't planning on spending the $$ now, was hoping to get through the summer.

Greg,
Think twice about the Devek rad as they leak after a short period of use. Do a search for info.
A better choice may be the rad from 928 International.
