Default Torque tube compatability

Hi guys,
From what year range can I replace my '89 torque tube with?
Wasn't the central shaft from '89 onwards bigger?
Thanks

The early shaft is smaller, but all have the same end diameter. The later shaft necks down. There is some suspicion that the neck-down on later shafts creates a stress point. Anyway, if you go with the early shaft, you can install the circlip system to prevent the shaft from pulling back through the clamp. We did that recently on a 91. Call one of our favorite 928 specialty vendors that sells rebuilt shafts and discuss this with them.

What years Bill? I have an '80 tube ... will that be good for an S4? Maybe I'll put that into my new white S4 auto? So do you need to put the shaft into a later tube?

5-speed 80+ are interchangeable. AT is 83+.

4sp autos are interchangeable, meaning '84+ MY in euros.

Yeah, I wasn't consider Euro. H'man - check compatibility with one of our favorite vendors. They will verify for you.

Thanks Bill,
Sounds like an 86 TT will be OK for my S4.
