Default S4 Intensive Washer Bottle - How does it attach?

OK for those of you who have one - how does the intensive washer bottle on an S4 - the one under the cowl cover -attach. I see a mounting flange with hole in it for a bolt (I assume) and on the same side there is a molded in wedge that I assume engages into something...

Anyone have a photo of the intensive washer bottle with the Cowl cover off? (or can take one...) any one have a picture of the hardware it mounts to - with the bottle out is even better!

Thanks,
Alan

A short 6 mm bolt (10 mm head). I think the bracket has a nut welded on the backside.

OK Bill (Quick!),

I'm pretty sure I don't have the bracket in question - can you take a photo of it for me and/or tell me what its welded/bolted to...?

A photo of the installed location would be handy too - does the "wedge thingy" engage into the same bracket for stability perhaps ?

Alan
I'm doing a retrofit of sorts to my GTS which didn't have one stock...

Does anyone use the special fluid in these? I believe the manual calls for some sort of silicone-based fluid?

BMW uses similar system and sell special fluid for it. At least in here dealers have it. It's not cheap though.

Ed: Yes, you can buy the special fluid from our sponsoring vendors. Looks like a liter for $15. It's a Porsche part.

Alan: No sure about the wedge thingy. I'll look at it this evening. The bolt is easy to lose down inside the cowl space.

OK guys bumping this one back up...

I now have the Intensive waher tank & pump ready to go in. Based on the responses I got in my previous post on the subject (thanks to Roger especially): https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...eferrerid=6055

I know where it goes and have tried it for fit. On my GTS the bracket that holds the wiper motor has a notched slot which is used to mount one side of the wiper motor connector.. this is bulky and interferes with the tank location - further if I remove this connector and let it float out of the way I can engage the wedge on the tank into this slot and the tank is located just about exactly where it needs to go. Next to the slot in the wiper motor mount there is an usused threaded screw hole - its not even close to where the flange with hole on the tank is but could be a mounting point for a tank bracket?

Is there in fact a bracket that spans from the wiper mount to - say... the hood hinge bolt and is this where the intensive tank bolts up? I'm just guessing here?

It appears that its quite possible to see/photo the bracket with the tank still in situ...

Anyone got a good view of this ...

If nobody knows or can photo that spot I guess I now see how I can make a bracket for this that will work - but I'd sure like to know how the stock version really looks first... Was the mounting flange for the wiper motor on earlier cars just different?

Alan

This is what mine looks like:

It defintely is bolted in as I described earlier. Sorry, I forgot to open it up last night and shoot a photo. Here's is an old photo I took for another reason. Ignore the red arrow. You can partially see the motor connector. Somehow the bottle snugs in there to the far right.

Alan:

You are missing a secondary bracket that holds the motor connector and has the hole for the bottle bolt. The bottle has a protrusion that slides into the cutout in the main bracket rather than the motor connector.

Thumbs up

Bill,
Many many thanks - excellent photos... Much as I thought - except it looks like it actually has 2 screw mounts to the wiper bracket - another at the back under the actuator arms - I'll look tomorrow. I feel sure I can fab a bracket quite a lot like that - hopefully including the slot for the relocated connector. It seem that the connector was originally on the wiper arm - got relocated to the bracket with the addition of the intensive washer bottle - then on the GTS with the intensive wash delete it reverted back to the original position...

Big thanks for the dissassembly work Bill

If anyone actually has that bracket - well it would save a little work for me...

Oh, yeah, this was deleted in the GTS. No wonder I couldn' find it in the PET for 94. You need retaining plate 928 628 230 00 and two 6 x 15 bolts.

Bill,
Managed to get the bracket from 928 Intl and from there it was an easy install - thanks so much for the pointers and more...

Its a very neat install - still need to remove front drivers wheel & wheel liners again and hook up the existing tube properly - right now there is a non-Porsche washer bottle and Porsche pump in the drivers fender ahead of the wheel... Heres what it looks like installed and running though...
