I agree they're overdone by the ricer crowd.

Now suicide doors would be sweet.

For those that are interested. I fully plan on having these style doors on a widebody by the end of the year. I already have the widebody parts in hand and am just waiting for my bank account to recover before I get started. In the past I had planned on going with the vertical doors/lambo style doors, but have since found a source for these. I think they look much cooler and are so much more rare. These are the same style doors that are found on the new Astons and the Mclaren SLR.

Fabio,

Is there a discreet way to run the wiring harness to the doors?

I think what you are seeing is the strut not the wiring.

Hey Fabio, give up the source or PM me if it's a secret. I really want to add this door style to my '84.

What style widebody are you going to go with?

Well, I really didn't want to let the cat out of the bag. But thats not what this 928 comunity is all about. So here is my source. Wing Doors
I spoke with a leading installer of this companies products last year. These doors have been in developement all this time. He was anxiously awaiting these hinges because he already had two cars lined up for the conversion. I will be paying him a visit soon to see the finished product in person before modding the car. He will be doing the mods if I choose to make the change. This is something thats best left to a profesional in my opinion.

As for which widebody I am going with. I am going with the Clockwork Orange kit but keeping the stock single headlights. This was the kit that Rob Roy had for sale a month ago. BTW big ups to him .

87 pounds !!!!!!

In other news, I am apparently sufficiently removed from pop culture to have never heard them referred to as twankie deuces. I shall be adding that to my lexicon forthwith.

I think those look great with one major drawback, you will never be able to open your doors in a crowded parking lot again. (not that you would ever park in one)

I disagree. The door will actually need less clearance to the left and right than a stock opening door. Now the fact that I am going to be adding these to a widebody will affect my parking options. My car will be about 8 inches wider.

A note:
I know some ricers, some of them with their "show winners" cars, that have installed scissor doors...
The 928 doors are LARGE and kinda heavy already as they are.
I have seen the quality of the "best" lambo style doors around, and it is not up to my expectations, i know the looks are good, but the quality will be so-so. I can't imagine the rattle with those doors!!!!
They open ~2 inches outwards and then slide up. If you put too much pressure opening them, you feel like they are going to snap!
BTW the gullwing doors look pretty cool.

Hey Fabio, not talking about the strut.

I was refering to the wires that run through the stock black plastic conduit on our doors. Is there a slick way to run that harness while using the Lambo door hinge? It just seems that you would need a lot of slack in the harness to accomodate the travel of the door swinging up.

I think it's a killer look for the 928.

So did anyone ever do this to their 928? I'm more curious than anything. This would be done a long way down the road if ever for me. Performance first for me; how much weight does this add?
