Welcome to the Asylum...

FWIW, I kinda dig the pinstripes. They're fairly low-key and flow with the lines of the car. I've never seen pinstripes on a 928 ( and posting here, I've seen thousands of 928s!) and it's kind of... refreshing.

Great find. Looks like a sharp car. I just bought my first 928 a couple weeks ago, and I love it. It is fun to drive, but it always is tempting me to go faster and faster.

Thanks. I'm considering buying this: Shifter Plate Replacement. Does anybody know where I can purchase the aluminum that goes around the clock? I'd like to have that too, but I don't think that kit comes with it.

Hi Casey:

The 1981 has a different console insert than the later models, so there are some limitations to what we can do around the clock. The shifter plate is no problem - in fact, you're going to love the smoother shifter movement, once you have replaced the slider with the large boot.

PM me about the things you want, and I'll work out the right solutions with you.

I hope so, after all, that is the main reason I bought the car.

Casey,
As you can see from my avatar, my chiffon white 84 also has pin stripes, though different from yours. I would think twice before removing them. Otherwise you may have to deal with ghost stripes. You said the odometer stopped working recently. How recently? Don't be surprised if your 928 has quite a bit more mileage than you've been told. Interior wear seem excessive for less than 80K miles. The good news is...the engine can easily last for 250K miles if taken care of. Good luck and I hope you enjoy your 928 and the Rennlist community.

Well, the odometer would be a concern, but I checked the seller's feedback and he has nearly 500 positve and only 1 negative from a few years ago. The same couple has owned the car since 1996, and they seem like the kind of people who would've fixed it by now if it had been a while. That was my concern originally, but not anymore.

As for the pin stripes, I'm not sure if I am going to keep them or not. I'm going to wait until the car gets here and see how they look.

Welcome, and nice find, she looks vary well taken care of.

I would also seggest living with it a while, my '82 has a brown interior and I didn't like it at all and wanted to turn/replace it with black ASAP but as time went on I re-upholstered a few peices in black as highlights and it looks great and i've received lots of positive comments.

After checking out Nicole's site I'm thinking I want to get some aluminum into my car. That includes aluminum shifter plate, door handles, and circular air vents. I'll probably get a new shift **** with some aluminum too. I might change the interior color if it doesn't grow on me.

I've heard it can be a real hassle to change the leather on the front seats. I was wondering if there is some place where I can buy leather seats that are in better shape at a reasonable price. Also, does anybody have any idea how much I could sell my current seats for? The leather is in fair shape and you can get somewhat of an idea by looking at the pictures.

If you want to trade your sport seats for a decent set of regulars....You should have NO PROBLEM finding several folks that would trade with you.

Glad you found Nicole's site. She's a great R'ister/Sponsor, and a nice person, too. Whenever possible - do business with one of the 928 vendors that are also R'list sponsors...and...pony up the membership $$...BEST$18 you can spend on your car!

Actually, I think the biggest problem with this car is BY FAR, the Keychain!! Take another look...
