Default Anyone have a good used distributor cap?

I had removed the coil lead off of the distributor cap on the 82 the other day to prime the engine and the post broke off. I was able to pull the post out of the wire boot and snug it back down in the cap. Car started fine, but has a slight miss that may be attributed to resistance as a result of this.

So if anyone out there has a used cap 1978-1984 that is NOT toasted, please contact me. I would be willing to pay $20.00 for it.

Thank you!

Keith,

try www.drivewire.com.
I just purchased to dist. caps and two rotors from them.
Brand new Bosch caps are ~$40.00.
They have free shipping on orders over $50.00 if you need anything else.

Good luck Rich

Volvos use the same distributor cap. Just without the black plastic.

Part number/price? If you don't have the part number...what model/year does it come from?

Edit...aw crap...it's for an old bugger. Others may benefit if you have the info, though.

I have some in my basement (I've got a growing inventory of distributors, somehow), but I need to check their condition. I'll try to look for this thread when I get home tonight after a night meeting.

Er, you thinking the dual-cap '85/86, I take it?
Seems to be a little cylinder-discrepancy going on .

Yep, looks like it's for 85-95 models... and about $9 cheaper than the 928 part.

PHP Code:

928 602 211 01, used on the 944 S's.

Yeah. Duly noted.
I meant between the 8-terminal cap that the original poster is seeking, and the options being cited.

Four distributors and only one cap...
I think you're better off dropping hte extra couple bucks for a new one. It'll work, but has some pitting of the contacts inside and just doesn't look to purty.

Quick Reply: Anyone have a good used distributor cap?
