How to remove air pump & bracket?
Today I decided to remove my bypassed airpump instead of paying $100 smackers/hour for my main P-car wrench to do it.
I removed the obvious 3 long bolts but the air pump wont budge. Are there others hidden?.
Thanks Rich

I've read that you need to drop the air conditioning compressor in order to get that component out.
-Why do you want to remove the air pump? My '85's AP is seized, and it destroyed the fan belt [probably in protest] when it happened. I simply bought a 4L210 belt from Pep-Boys, which is a riding lawnmower belt that happens to fit perfectly and drives the fan just fine, and left the silly air pump in place. I recently rebuilt my intake manifold, and removed the air tube and blow-off valve, since they were easily removed and pretty much vestigial.

There's no need to remove the AC compressor in order to remove the AC compressor. I removed the fans, the belt and the bolts holding the air pump. After the I wiggled it a bit and removed the heat shield at the rear of the air pump. This allowed me to remove the air pump without dropping the AC compressor.
I thing that there are two bolts holding the pump, but I'm not 100% sure. The pump did not drop after removing the bolts, it was more or less stuck in the same place, try to move it forward and remove the hoses.

Rehan,
I removed three bolts on the bracket so far.
Below the air pump is a large adjustable braket that bolts to the engine block.
Does that need to be removed too?
Thanks Rich

There should only be two bolts securing the air pump: at the base, there is a long M8x110mm pivot bolt that secures the pump to the TB tensioner housing. The second bolt is an ~ M8x40 that locks the V-belt tensioner bracket ( with the adjuster) to both the pump and block .... a third secures that bracket to the block.
Pull the three, loosen the adjuster on the AC compressor to swing it aside ,,,, and the pump drops out the bottom: You may need a pry bar or soft faced hammer to 'talk' the pump out of the TB tensioner pivot points .....

Rich, I found it easiest to leave the hoses attached to the pump. One runs forward to the filter, one runs vertically to the air tube -- it's the red hose that connects to the air tube between the cam tower and fender, at the #1 cylinder.
