Can I get anything larger than the 255/40's on the rear without mods or worries?...I want to maintain the original rims and would like to get as much rubber as possible on the road. Thanks!

I installed 275/40x17 Michelin PS2 just a couple of months ago. They fit just fine on factory rims. The fronts are 245/40x17.
No pictures yet with the new Koni/Eibach combination, but it does sit a bit lower, but no rubbing.

Bill, it sits about 1 inch lower with the new shocks and springs. I sure hope this heat clears out for Saturday. I loaded up big plastic Rubbermaid container with tools and stuff. I'll need to bring about 4 shirts if the humidity keeps up. Did Chris say his garage was air conditioned???

I also run Michelin Pilot PS2's 275/40 17's on the back and 225/45 17's (stock) on the front. Works well with no other mods - on the stock wheels. Absolutely no interference. Slightly changes the relative speed wrt to the speedo (speedo reads slower) but only a few % - some have claimed it only takes out the conservative tolerance Porsche puts in...
Haven't calibrated so I don't know.
I like the tires, very good grip (better than my 255/40 Bridgestone Potenza S03's) and quite the quietest tires I have run on the GTS.

Theory is that a 275 will stick out about 3/8" (10mm) more on each side than the 255 originals. I noticed that the PS-2's have a pretty beefy sidewall protection bead on them. The bead alone sticks out more than the 10mm on the PS-2, compared with the Pilot MXX3's they replaced.
The PS-2's are very quiet, very sticky by the way.

The local Costco store managed to price the PS-2's well enough to make Tire Rack my second choice. They use a no-contact installer/mounting machine. They also let me 'help' with some of the balancing calcs needed to get the weights inside the spokes.
I take my wheels to them clean and off the car so it goes a lot faster than standing in line.
They needed four days to get the tires shipped in, normally this is two days but a holiday snuck into the middle of my schedule.
Costco has road hazard and lifetime balancing warranties included, something quite rare with performance tires.
