Default 4.7 Kuhn-Callaway Twin Turbo "Torque-Meister" results in! NOW WITH "PAPERS"

Stopped at my friendly Ford dealer for the dyno pull day this afternoon with the 4.7 Euro-US-Kuhn-Callaway Twin Turbo. Remember, this car is wearing the old Callaway setup from my 4.5 liter....it has my intercooler and fuel management, my build on the low compression 8.1:1 block and the special sauce (Nikasil). She is running 8 psig max boost on the old IHI-RHB-6 turbos with a downsized 18 hotside for better spool. Un-modified US L-Jetronic intake, throttle body and runners, US 84 Camshafts, Euro 4.7 bottom end and Euro heads. It is a "hybrid" of sorts I could not have asked for better results:

392 Wheel HP
480 Wheel ft-lbs (yes, 480 ft lbs, this is not a typo)

I have no doubt a more modern set of turbos would really wake this thing up, but for now she is going to stay as is...shall we call it a "conservative" street driver? The guys on the dyno called it "The Ultimate Driver"...also wanted to mention this was done on an eddy current load dyno, not a "Dynojet". These types of dynos generally give a more conservative number as compared to a Dynojet.

What will happen when I put 8 psig on the 5.0 liter...with ultra- modern turbos and 300 more ccs?...well more on that later!

Around 4600 RPM or so. It could stand to have a lot more turbo in it.

That's great! Congratulations on the results!

At what RPM does the boost hit 8psig?

EDIT: See you have answered that already.

Sweet. Turn it up to 12 and watch the demons come out from under the hood. When I turned my old 928 TT up to 12 psi it was in the top 3 fastest cars I had ever driven, and it was definately quicker the the 11:1 Pantera I owned at the time.

Some facts to consider:

*4.5 Liter 8.5 psig: 305 HP at Wheel

*4.7 Liter 8 psig: 392 HP at Wheel (smaller hotside housing, otherwise same turbo)

*5.0 Liter...this is +300cc over the 4.7 and a lot more head to work with...the math would lead me to believe it will be borderline or over 500 wheel HP on very modest boost levels! Maybe even 500 WHP on less than 10 psig!

The highest HP car at the dyno day today was a 6.1 liter turbocharged Mustang that put down 690 HP on 13 or so psig.

Well, my 4.5 liter gained about 60-70 HP from 8.5 to 12 psi...this car would probably show another 100 HP under the same circumstances...we'd be borderline 500 WHP then!

It's time for me to stop playing in the 16V world and move onto "greener pastures".

Yes, my brother conveniently reminded me to not destroy the tires on this car. The best thing now is to tidy up a few things and ship it back to Florida. Good thing it will never see Wisconsin or the "Wisconsin Destroyer" again!
