bulb chart
My 'D' lamp on the instrument panel is out and I cannot find something that gives me a light blub number. Are they Porsche only or do they take something like a 337? Pet was no help, SM even less so.

Yeah, we should give a reward to someone who finds a decent bulb chart. What you need is Porsche 999.631.027.90. It should be equivalent to Sylvania 2721 or Jahn 1601. Double check that.

Some of 'dis don't compute.
For a 85 (auto not specified) it lists 19 PN 999-631-301-90(item 8) and 4 PN 928-641-893-00(item 21). It would seem that P,N,R,D,3,2 = 6 lights which (and this is a leap) I presume are the same bulb type unless they are part of the 19. Is a PN 999-631-301-90 the same as the 999-631-027-90 mentioned above in Mr. ***** post?

I doubt very much of these wire ended bulbs are shown on any Porsche P/N list. They are very much "intefrated" into the tach assembly.
I had to remove the dash, remove the tach, tach off the needle etc to repalce the bulbs. The bulbs I used were T1 3mm dia 12v 60mA, wire ended.
Some people have managed this repair without taking the pointer/dial off. Do a search here on Rennlist.
You may find it advisable to repalce the most commonly used gear lamps at the same time - I had to do the job twice in a few weeks. Also, be careful of debris falling into the lens area.

OK, I should have stayed out of this. I got the PN for shift indicator bulb for 89-95. WRONG!
As John indicated, these bulbs are soldered in and not directly available.

THe other gotcha that can make the system not illuminate bulbs correctly is the alignment of the gear selector mecahnism on the side of the auto 'box. There is a proceedure for lining this up in the workshop manual.

Probably not the problem. I had the instrument panel out to fix (or so I thought) the speedometer. More likely jiggling the thing when I took the speedometer out of the cluster caused it to burp. Good thought tho!
