Body question
On the exterior of the 928, there is a piece that runs between the windshield and the doors (and rides up onto the sides of the roof) on both the driver and passenger side.
On my car, both of these pieces have moved forward (towards the base of the windshield) and the part that secures them (near the top of the hatch) is now just barely hanging on. Are these pieces flexible (plastic) and can they be moved back to fit better?
Thanks

The pieces are aluminum, I believe, and they are used to hide the spot welds from the roof panel. There is a screw that attaches it at the rear of the car (which is tapped into the sheetmetal). The trim piece has an end cap that can come loose, so what I would do is try to shove it back in there, adjust the whole trim piece further back, then screw it back in.

They are pressed and glued to the metal flange where the panels are spot welded together and are difficult to remove with out bending and they are not going to slide. They are extruded aluminum and once bent very hard to get straight.

So if I remove the screw and end piece, I should be able to shove that piece back into place? I tried moving it, but it seemed pretty stuck where it was. I will try again without those caps on the ends.
My car has a whole bunch of little cosmetic glitches and I am thinking of having the paint "reconditioned" and gone over. Another 928 Rennlister (surgiblade) had it done and it turned out great. Kind of in-between a repaint and a detail job.
By the way, that is not my car in the attached photo (my car is far and away much less pristine...). I have a whole collection of 928 images that I have copied off of Rennlist and this one illustrated where that piece is located.

I believe I have the same issue on both cars. I thought the rear "cap" was working its way out. Anybody got a fix? Seems like an "epoxy" is in order, but it just isn't that much of a problem.

Hmmm.
If they don't move (at least, very easily), I am wondering if the end caps (which are the parts that actually make the other peices look like they have slid down) can be modified to fit up tight to the other pieces and then re-attached? Barring that, I am almost afraid to know how much they would cost.

If you are talking about just a few mm you can bend the end stops that much. Be careful they are brittle.
Ask me how I know. I just bought a pair of new end stops from 928 Intl. Cheap.

Colin,
Not just a few millimeters, in my case around 10. Thats probably too much.
I was thinking of cutting off the section that fits into the long front piece and fitting that to the front piece. Then making a seperate piece out of aluminum that the screw would hold down. In other words, the end pieces would be purely cosmetic.
