Default 88 928, can I use brake damping plates from 89 up?

I'm looking at new pads, not sure what kind of shape the damping plates are in. I noticed the 30mm, 36mm, and 44mm plates are different for the 89 and up, can they be used on an 88? The front brakes have always squeeled not long after washing the wheels, maynot be any damping plates.

Thanks,
Glenn

Used Mintex street without pads. Used caliper grease on the rear edges where they slide in the caliper.
No noise and very very little dust.
Highly recomended.
