Question engine temp question

What is the average normal running temperature of the engine on the cluster gage ? I have a 92 celcius radiator switch with an electric fan and the needle always goes a bit over the last white line or under that line after the fan has run. Not knowing my engine well yet and to take no chance I installed a manual switch and another direct circuitry with a variable temp electronic module , when my module was ok the temp was always staying way under the last white line , because i adjusted it at the lowest temp position but my electronic module apparently blown . So i would like some opinions on this.
Thank's

my efan comes on just over the bottom white line, i don't like mine getting anywhere near the top white line, although for a short period of time, it is possible for this to happen and is normal in heavy traffic and spirited driving.

also, you want your fans to come on when your radiator heats up (basically when your t-stat opens. which i beleive is arund 75C

My reading used to be the same as yours - however after doing a dash pod removal, the gauge now sits at the lower white bar....so could be just bad connections - the rheostat/dash light adjuster is involved in this crime I believe...

I have an A pillar Autometer gauge, reads steady at just under 190 F.

Someone already told me on another topic that the last white line was about 90 celcius (194F) , my t-stat is new by the way , so the rad switch and it is a 92c (198) it closes at 92c and reopen at 85c , so what i want to know from as many people as possible is that : is it normal that my temp indicator plays around the last white line when i drive in the city or climbing a hill ? when i'm driving around 60 mph , on a flat road , the needle stays between the second and last white line , when my variable fan temp switch was working , i set it to the minimum 71c (160F) and my temp indicator was never reaching the last white line , is everything normal or logical ?

I think what you'll hear is that its farily common for the cars to run in that range, and hotter on the track (requiring fan upgrades). However, new radiators often seem to address the matter. In addtion, a little expedition to clear debris from between the radiator and cooler may help as well.

I felt that the low temp thermostat and switch were too cool for my car, so I went back to the stock 83* thermostat and installed an 85* fan switch, keeping the operational range nice and tight (and below the upper hash mark). I had a tough time finding the 85*, there are 82* switches around too, but I wanted something just a tad higher (but not +/- 10*higher) than the thermostats rating.
