Default Parts diagrams online

I was searching online for some parts and came across this...It's a nice source for part numbers if you don't have access to the PET CD or parts catalog.

LINK (this is just the page for 83-86 models. You can navigate the site for other model years)

Nice find, Dave.

Rixter - nice site. I like the way it's organized. I'll for sure be stopping by next time I need parts!

This is my current project - the passenger side mirror came off the base and I'm having a heck of a time compressing the spring (13) enough to get the two pieces back together:

The challenge is getting the spring compressed while turniing the bolt at the same time, as you know. The wires come down the middle of the bolt into the base, and you probably don't want to take the door panel off to get the wires disconnected.

When this happened on my car, I searched through the screwdriver collection and found a staright-blade driver that would fit in the hex socket head on the bolt next to the wires. I could then push up on the screwdriver and the bolt with one hand, while pushing down on the mirrot flag with the other hand. It took a few tries to get the bolt at just the right spot to start the threads, but after that it was just a tightening effort on the bolt.

The 'problem' started on my car after numerous mirror rotations putting the cover on and off. I happened to have one of those generic-sized car covers rather than the custom-fit kind, so the mirro flags needed to be rotated to allow the sides of the cover to pull down tight. Rotate the mirrors enough, and the bolt will eventually come loose. At the twice-annual clean/glaze/wax sessions now, the mirror base is unscrewed from the body and the bolt tension is confirmed before reassembly.

HTH!

I've thought about popping all the pins out of the connector to allow the cable to pass through, but that doesn't sound like much fun either. I was able to get it back together by leaving out the washers at either end of the spring, but I don't want to leave it that way for long.

I'm guessing there's some sort of special tool that makes this easy, and costs a small fortune...

Airflite,

How about a step-by-step on how you get from that page to a parts diagram? I've tried more than once and been unsuccessful.

It's probably just me, but ...

The reason it may appear slow, is if you have an older version of Adobe Acrobat plugin installed or your browser is slow loading it. If you are familiar with PET, then it is the exact same thing. Here's what I did real quick:

Select model

then the year

then a window pops up and you are at the start of PET

from here you just pic the section and navigate to the part you want

If you dont see anything when you click the link, that means you do not have the adobe acrobat reader installed on your computer or you are missing the plug in.

The link Dave posted of Rixter's site has prices! Granted some were really high, but others were really competitive.
