Wheel spacers and how much is needed?
Hey all,
I am putting 18" x 10" ET 65 in the rear of my S4 with 295 tires.
Wheels fit nicely and tires just barely rub the suspension arm. There seems to be ample room between the front of the tire and the inside of the fender.
What is the minimum clearance needed between tire and suspension.
What do you guys suggest I should use. I would rather not have to replace studs.
Anyone have the right spacers for sale?
Thanks
Paul

You don't want any contact, so it would depend on how your suspension moves. I have seen people suggest removing the shock and spring (while safely support the car and suspension of course), then you can find the maximum range. Probably 1/4" to 1/2" is plenty.
Do you have the slip on rear spacers now?

One thing you need to consider with a slip on is that it either must have it's own hub centric support, or leave enough of the original extending to support the wheel, as you don't want the wheel supported by the wheel studs alone.
The other consideration is that the wheel studs must be long enough to allow full engagement of the lug nut. Rule there is that the lug nut should engage as deep as the wheel stud is in diameter.
