I announced at Sharks in the Park that we would have a funride on Sunday July 9 in the Napa wine country. Well, let's do it. The only problem is I don't have a route, schedule, stop for lunch or anything else planned!
So, here's your chance to help design the funride. I know there are some great roads up in the wine country, but I haven't been on them in ages.
We need a meeting spot, some road suggestions, lunch ideas and maybe a winery to end the afternoon. I figure we will meet around 9:30am near Napa, take off for a couple of hours on the backroads, stop for lunch head out again and hit one of the wineries. Or we could combine lunch at a winery.
I need your suggestions.
See you Sunday around 9:30 in Napa! [Now 10 am on 07/30]

Bill,
My Wife and I spent Sat and Sun up in Napa. Far cry fom DFW!!! As I was driving, I was thinking how great it would be to have the 79 out there. I'd get on the Silverado Trail for sure. What a great road! Yountsville has some really cool little places to eat, but 29 may be pretty jammed up during the day.
Hope y'all have a great time!!!

I have a few suggestions for routes, but I would like to know if we want to picnic or eat at a restaurant. We could meet at Home Depot in Napa by the Community College. Stop at Andretti Winery for pic's, take Silverado Trail up to 29 and eat up there, come down to Yountville, for more pic's eat there or at Viansa Winery and we could each split there to go home. What do you think?

Sara:
Most likely restaurant.
Here's some suggestions from Beth and Rich. Let me know what you think.
I think it would be easiest if everyone meets at the corner of Soscol and Imola in the Target parking lot. There is an IHOP and a Baker's Square there if you want to meet for breakfast. If not, it's a big parking lot and a good meeting place.
From there, here is your route.
1. Right turn out of parking lot and head north on Soscol.
2. Stay in right lane and veer right onto 121 towards Lake Berryessa.
3. Continue approximately 5 miles.
4. At stop sign, turn right on Montecello Road.
5. Follow 121/Montecello Road for about 12 miles.
6. At stop sign at 128 turn left.
7. Continue approximately 8 miles.
8. At Chiles Valley Road turn right.
9. Continue approximately 4 miles.
10. Turn left on Pope Valley road.
11. Follow around Lake Henessey until you hit Silverado Trail.
12. At Silverado Trail turn left.
13. Continue approximately 8 miles.
14. Turn right on Oak Knoll.
15. Continue approximately 2 miles west.
16. At highway 29 turn left.
17. Continue approximately 2 miles and Ren Hen Cantina is on the right. Located on Solano (frontage road parallel to highway).
Red Hen Cantina is a popular Mexican restaurant with a big patio and good atsmophere.

Bill,
It sounds like a good run is planned. I am debating whether I will go because I think my car is sitting a little too low and need to check the ride height on it. While I was driving on the 4th, I went over a dip in the road on heard some nasty scraping. Got home and checked it out (no damage done), but considering that I don't have a belly pan or front spoiler I should set the ride height to correct specs. I should also put my new wheels and tires on.
I may be doing that this weekend. Get everything setup for DEVEK Days, which is coming up.

OK, here is the funride. I expanded the route, adding a leg a little to the north into the Pope Valley.

Also, it appears there may be a conflict with this weekend for me after all. It would be better if we postoned the ride until Saturday or Sunday, the 22 or 23rd. What do you guys think? That way I can get more notice out to others as well.

Hi Bill,
Let us know the new date. The delay will give me time to put in my new heater control valve and center vacuum actuator for the HVAC. Nothing like a working AC on a hot day in Napa.
Cheers,
