This may be news to some and not to others, but this a a pretty good write up of facts for the 928 and they seem to know some interesting numbers associated with the 928.
Also, is a 942, the 928 station wagon??????

Under Miscellaneous, it says
"There are many famous celebrities associated with the 928, including Roger Clemens, Stanley Kubrick, Steven Spielberg, Eddie Murphy, David Letterman, Charlie Sheen, Tom Selleck and MC Hammer."
It used to say

It's quite good now I think. "The 911/928 debate" text seems to be ok for all sides off argument after many rounds of adjustment and false references to 924 being planned as 911 replacement are gone. Still production numbers could use some more work like adding special models such as Competition group and Weissach ediotion etc., adding 2 more Club Sports US '88 models into production numbers and maybe adjusting GTS total up by 3 or 4 cars.

Bernie Kosar had the "Cleaveland Brown" 928.

George Harrison and Douglas Adams both had 928s, and I recently saw a Tom Selleck bio that claimed he bought his 3 costars 928s as gifts when Magnum ended production.

People who monitor Wikipedia and decide how those pages should be structured have decided that Miscellaneous section is no longer useful in any auto articles. Instead of just putting it back up and annoy them, its copied below:
Jeremy Clarkson of "Top Gear" in 2004 referred to the 928 as "a proper Porsche". In Top Gear's '£1500 Porsche Challenge', Clarkson purchased a 928 with help orchestrated by http://www.928.org.uk, a UK based group of some 400 owners and fans committed to the ownership of these vehicles on modest budgets. Although the challenge proved that these cars could be bought at extremely low prices, the vehicle in question suffered from severe overheating problems reinforcing the requirement for adequate maintenance by specialists or a knowledgeable owner. The Show's co-presenter Richard Hammond owns his own 928.
- Mexican Boxer Salvador Sanchez died in a Porsche 928 in August 12, 1982.
- The 928 can be seen in many movies, including Looker, Scarface, Risky Business (Where it is the central piece of the whole film, and graces the poster art), Weird Science, Beetlejuice, Thinner, The Nutty Professor (1996 film), Leonard Part 6, and Cannonball Run. The AC/DC video "Let There Be Rock" features the band racing a biplane in a 928.
- The 928 can be seen in Taito's Chase H.Q. series of video arcade games as the protagonist car for the undercover cops used to arrest criminals in various cars.
- The 928 was also appeared in various '80s toy-lines and their animated counterparts such as Transformers, GoBots, and M.A.S.K..
- More recently a white USA spec 928 S appears in the beginning of the opening sequence of Britney Spears' ''My Prerogative'' video. The car is replaced with a 944/924 with aftermarket tail-lights before it is driven into a swimming pool. Viewers are not supposed to spot the change of car.
- KISS lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist Paul Stanley owned a black 928, which was featured in the music video for their 1987 single "Reason to Live."
- There are many famous celebrities associated with the 928, including Roger Clemens, Stanley Kubrick, Steven Spielberg, Eddie Murphy, David Letterman, Charlie Sheen, Tom Selleck and MC Hammer.
- On August 7, 1986, the Porsche 928 was graced with the distinction of being the "World's Fastest Production Car", earning the land speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats. After the record setting run, the "Holbert car" was given to IMSA for use as a track safety and pace car. It was later donated to a high school Arizona. After several years of collecting dust in a shop classroom, the car was purchased by driver Mark Kibort who returned the car to racing with minimal work. It regularly competes in SCCA IT-E class races in California.

Thanks Vill,
I have wanted to ask how Kibort got the "Holbert car" and was too lazy to do a search.
Great info.
