Default question on grounding point in engine bay (85)

I was installing my efan and was looking for a good grounding point... I looked on the passenger side and saw that there was no bolt on the top clamp to my coil, then i noticed a a 'ground strap' that looked like it ran to the pass front of the engine 'eye' hook.
is this just a ground point for the engine, or is it important?
i rehooked it up but with eliminating my viscous fan and air pump, not sure if the ground made a difference of its own

Hi there should be a ground wire to the engine from the coil if you have 2 coils then you should have 2 ground wires they need to be tied in secure the coil clamp and connect the wire from the coil to the engine
