Default External Oil Cooler

My internal Oil Cooler recently decided to retire. I was lucky in that it happened in my driveway and none of the coolant got into the oil system. Instead, all the oil went into the coolant and filled up the overflow tank.

Unless someone on here has a used radiator they want to unload for a decent price, I was starting to think the better solution would be to put on an external oil cooler. I've done a little research, but haven't crawled under her to see what type of project it will turn out to be.

Anyone else have experience doing this type of project? Are there good kits out there that you would suggest? Anything to watch for when starting the project?

The later S4 and the GTS came with a Behr external oul cooler that might be the perfect solution. Get a used one with all the brackets and hoses.

Be aware also that a good radiator shop can swap that end tank for a new one with a good oil cooler section inside. If you existing radiator core is doing OK, and might enjoy a good cleaning, then this is a great and relatively inexpensive way to go. The oil cooler is usually just a section of tubing looped inside the end tank. No magic here. You don't get to do all the external cooler installation and buy new hoses though.

Based on my experience with this setup, I would avoid it and get another radiator with the cooler.
