I know that taste resides in the eye of the beholder, and that you have obviously invested great time and expense in this project, but forgive me, it looks as though it were being designed by and/or for Bibendum, the Michelin man.

Expense? You've gotta be kidding. The spoiler cost me about $100 so far. And I only built it because I couldn't find what I was looking for out there commercially.

Actually, Louie's magnificent flares where cheap as well, considering what body kits normally go for....

I think that if fiberglass is used under bondo, and the hole is cratered enough, that the fiberglass will hold onto the metal, as long as it is roughed and prepped to hold the material. I did this on my 78. Where did it crack? I bought doors that did not have holes because I was concerned about the vibration, but I filled in the fenders and rear.

I woundn't use polyester/glass fiber under the metal. Polyester resin isn't a good adhesive. Epoxy/glass fiber, or epoxy/aluminum sheet should work ok on the back side of the door skin. The hole can be filled with epoxy/chopped glass fiber mix. Final thin layer of bondo for smoothing under the primer is ok.

The rear hole in the door has easy access for filling. The front one is a bugger to get at.

The rear fenders are $600 plus packing and FedEx shipping which usually runs $100. It's a big box, not heavy. Figure $700 total. I have a set with thicker front section if you want to cut an air inlet hole. Give me a few minutes and I'll put up some more finished pics on my web site. www.performance928.com. I actually dented the holes, roughed them, and then primered the inside and outside, and THEN put the fiberglass mix on there, and used enough to create a sctructure (the holes are you know are small) So I applied the fiberglass (medium strand) to painted metal - that seamed like the best idea. I also did this for the S-spoiler holes that were in the front fenders.

I think it will hold up in San Diego weather, as long as the fenders are not compromised by bumps, etc.

Is there enough room to mount an oil cooler in the vent openings in those flares? I always thought that would be a good place if you could put some mesh over them to protect from rocks.

I like the look, nice glass work.

I'm going to do a little glass work to the front of my '84. I'm working on some drawings right now to figure out the look that I want.

Yes, an oil cooler would fit as long as it was no more than about 2" thick. It could vent into the wheel well.
