928 S4 Instrument dials not functioning
I hope someone will be able to assist me in finding the problem I am experiencing with my 1991 928 S4 right-hand drive. I purchased the Strosek skirts from Germany and had them installed by a panel shop. After a month of battling to get them right the battery was flat and they removed it and had it charged. The battery got fried because of them reversing the polarity! When I finally installed a new battery the dials in the instrument panel such as the rev. counter, temperature gauge, fuel gauge, speedometer etc. did not function although the instrument lights are working. As far as I can determine everything else is functioning except these dials and the trunk switch. The volt meter is still working.
I've checked the fuses but cannot find a fuse specifically for these instruments. Can anyone please help. I just hope it is not one of the computers! The last one cost me US$ 2000.

Check fuses 9,25,26 &39. All have a possible effect on your instrument cluster.
Once you have removed, checked, cleaned & renewed these fuses let us know if it makes any difference.

If 25 proves to be blown and blows immediately upon insertion, pull down the overhead interior light. It often breaks and shorts against the roof panel. Roger included this fuse even though it is labeled as for interior lights because the instrument panel runs through this fuse as well as its own fuse and several others. Weird but true.
