Default upgrade to m28/11?

Hi all,

my car is running very well at the moment, engine rebuilt, brakes new etc. etc. Basically every moving part on my car is either new or rebuilt. And everything is strictly original. Cosmetically my car is nice, but not perfect. Several repaints, and minor body repair over the years, and panel gaps aren't perfect.

Let's say I get my filthy hands on an M28/11 engine. That is the 300hp cis euro engine. And the S brakes. I aslo have (access to) s4 front and rear spoilers.

What do I do?

The '81 euro non-S (my car) is the lightest 928 ever, and would scream with a 300hp engine, and track days tell me I could use bigger brakes too.

But then again "if it works, don't fix it".

Please advice...

MM

Then, you just take the short block and heads and bolt it all to your US intake system. (kind of a waste, as running the Ljet US stuff with a euro bottom end is like running a 50% restrictor plate in racing!)

so, if you get a euro, you need the 84 and newer euro intake runners, plennum and throttle body too. then, you are all set. (one minor mod, re-routing the cold start circuit from going to the heads to going to the plennum via one of the additional euro ports you can use on the plennum, which is very easy to do)

Mark: if I get this engine, it will be a complete m28/11 unit. I will not open it, or swap any parts at all. It will be a direct fit into my car that has the m28/09 today.

You should definitely do it since it is pretty much a direct swap, both are K-Jet, I think it's a great idea.

In Euros it didn't happen at all. We jumped directly to LH-Jet in '84 MY.

That's the first time I've ever heard anyone refer to an engine swap as a "bolt on"
upgrade!

How much is this upgrade going to run you? Might be cheaper / easier to bolt on a blower.

I am a part of this also, I have found a parts car and Gruffalo and me are considering buying it together to reduce cost. I would like the complete manual gear system, the steering rack and the interior if it is in as good shape as the owner say it is. Gruffalo could upgrade his 928 to "S" spec by swapping the brakes and engine. Maybe "S" wheels too Gruffalo?

Not to mention all the bits and pieces that is nice to have...

Sounds like a good deal for both of us if we get the car for a fair price!

FYI - if you're swapping the suspension / brakes, then WYIT, I recommend that
you go to S4.

I had an 84 (S) and a 79. I swapped in S4 suspension and brakes on all 4 corners
of the 79. At this point, the stopping power was noticibly better than the S.

BTW - this swap also required using S4 half-shafts.

I sold the S and still have the 79.

Like any project, what you put in ($) will be directly proportional to what you get
out ( )
