more hvac problems
I have a 1986.5 928 automatic with 37xxx. miles . First i would like to thank
everyone who answered my first thread on this. When you push the AC
button the light comes on and there is a buzzing sound comming from the
control head. Also my car has a vacuum check valve coming off the brake
booster it is a round blue and black bulb that goes to the hvac and the cruise
control. Where can i purchase one of these.
THANKS DWAYNE PORTIS

The check valve is a non-special item, but you can be sure to get the right one if you call one of the Big 3/4/5 vendors. Jim Bailey at 928 Int'l takes good care of me, so I recommend him as a resource.
The 'buzz' from the controller is often related to a failing AC clutch relay in the head. You can get a rebuilt/refurb'd controller, or you can do a little soldering-iron surgery and add a piggyback relay inside the controller to carry the clutch load. Do a little searching here on 'AC Relay' and you'll get a slew of good info.
You might mention your location in your user profile. It will help us help you a little better.
Also-- Rennlist membership is inexpensive, a tiny fraction of the value that you'll quickly appreciate from the group here. It's not mandatory, of course, but...

Dr Bob & Ross are right.......also buy a mityvac vacuum tester...it will become your best friend in solving HVAC problems! Chances are you have vacuum leaks (most do) & a faulty relay.....the good news is the relay is cheap $8 & most vacuum leaks can be capped & the rest of the system will work! So it won't cost you much to fix it!

The last check valve I bought (2 months ago) came off the shelf at Advanced Auto. It's the "HELP!" brand. about $4. I'll see if it lasts longer.... of course all my other vacuum actuators have gone out now....
Always something. I guess that's what is so much fun??
