Default Any advantage in doing windshield, dash and pod at the same time?

My 81 needs a new windshield, the dash recovered and the pod cracks fixed. Once I get all the materials would there be any advantage to doing these three things in a certain order or at the same time or not?

But Jim,
It would seem to be easier to reposition the dash upon reinstallation with the windshield out? I haven't done it yet, but I will defer to someone who has.

That was my thinking of being able to reach in and perform work on the dash and pod without the windshield in place - but Jim is the man and if says it doesn't matter then I'll do the windshield now and wait for the dash and pod.

Thanks

I just did my dash and pod and having the windshield out would not have made any real difference. Having a 2' tall helper with lots of 928 experience would have been a BIG help.

It looks and even sounds daunting, but it's not too bad. Determining what to do with the extra screws is more of a problem.

I'll have an extra pod for sale tomorrow: perfect, just covered in new black leather with grey stitching. Very simliar to Paul's design, but this was a test pod by my local leather guy (whom I owed the business to). He didn't get it perfectly the way I wanted it, so he's fixing some of the minor things & it will be for sale (best offer, or maybe eBay) come tomorrow afternoon (getting it at lunch).

For all new work, I recommend Paul completely & will use him exclusively in the future. My verbal debt has been repaid, I have a great leather interior now, but in retrospect, I wish I could have used Paul. I had been talking to my guy for months before Paul's work surfaced.

Anyway, black leather covered pod, contrasting grey stitching, very nice, I'm thinking of something like $50 + leather & work: maybe $400 for the whole thing?? I'll have pictures to give tomorrow: PM me if you're interested.

you're actually better off replacing the windshield 1st, just in case some glass comes loose... don't wanna damage a new dash

Rixter -I see your point glass on new leather - ouch!!!

Mark - I plan to get the leather for the dash from Rob the dash guy (if he is still selling) and the pod from Paul. I would consider your pod; however, my current funds are going for tires and alignment on my 84.

Rod - I will be learning how to do the pod on my 84 as it needs a new ignition electrical switch; however, the dash seems somewhat intimidating. How hard is it?

Jim - What are some of the items that should or could be done when doing the dash and pod. I'm not looking for an exhaustive list just the normal wear items.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback.
