Default x-pipe higher idle
hi guys
anyone notice a higher idle with the x-pipe ..if so how is it corrected ?

Odd. I have installed many and in many different configurations and never noticed a change in idle.

yes o2 sensor was replaced...i have x-pipe and rmb if that makes a difference..

Is it possible that an air leak at the manifold-x joints would fool the computer into thinking that the car was running leaner than it really was, causing more gas to be pumped into the cylinders and therefore a higher idle?

I have swapped a truckload of them and have never noticed that before...is it possible your cats were so bad that they were dragging the idle down? How high is it idling now? Somewhere near normal or it is high?

His car is a 86 US.

I noticed on mine a higher idle, but attibuted it to the aftermarket chips I was running.

AM chips will do it especially if the LH is mapped as a GT.

Tweak the idle adjustment screw on the throttlebody. The increase in exhaust flow increased the intake flow.

If a 86 US, then it doesn't have the closed loop idle stablisier system of the later cars 87 >>>

So idle may require a reset....I suppose a freer flowing exhaust could change idle speed... ?
