That exactly what happened when I swapped the cat and 2.25" pipe for 3" pipe. Idle rose from 750-ish to about 1000.

yeap - i have the x-pipe, chips and rmb..idle before was about 400-500rpms's.
where is the idle adjustment screw located ?

It's a half inch head slotted screw on the throttle body aimed diagonally up. Get the car warm, then adjust.

Yes, I gained about 100 rpm on my tach when...

I pulled my damaged catalytic converters and installed the Ott X on my '85 S2.

I've never had any sort of idle issue on my car [knock on wood~]; Nothing seems to change it other than the idle set screw. I set it at about 900 rpm. It doesn't rev out at stop lights, and I don't burn my clutch pulling away either.
