79, 5 speed. here is a like to what i am looking at

http://www.borla.com/applications/lo..._System/14276/

one of the pix shows that the unit exits the car on the rear, not out the corner of the rear bumper cover. has anyone put these on an early car and can add advice

On my 82 it exits the rear of the car in an identical position to the stock unit.
Looks totally stock unlike the ANSA.
The grey car is my Euro with the ANSA and the gold is my Weissach with the Borla.
The Borla has nice chrome tips and a deep throaty growl.

I have that exhaust on my '79. It exits out the corner like the stock exhaust. I am very happy with mine. Looks and sounds good - mine is pretty deep and loud with no cat.

I have the same exhaust, and like it. I don't know if your 79 has the battery box mounted to the transaxle like mine(Supposed to be only 77 & 78, but seeing one on an early 79 would not surprise me) but if it does then it will have to be massaged into position.

FWIW, I like the rear "corner" exit; of course I'm biased. To me, seeing only the chrome tip(s) and not pipe and tip(s) is preferable; a little more unique looking, too, as compared to all the other car exhausts out there. Just my $0.02

I have another Borla that is going to be fitted to my Euro once the head gasket is fixed.
I do not like the ANSA.

I had the ANSA before I got the Borla and I wouldn't recommend it. It didn't sound that good and rotted out, so I wanted stainless steel. Plus the ANSA looks strange to me.

Jim,
I thought I read somewhere that they were not going to make anymore?
I hope that is not the case - and you would know.
