Will this size work? 275/40/17"
In my never ending quest to purchase a set of good used track wheels I was solicited with these HRE wheels.
Wheels were previously on a 944 Turbo
All wheels are 275/40/17"
9" Front
10" Rear
TIA
I still may go ahead and purchase the set of 18" boxster replicas, that are being reviewed in another thread, but just in case this deal comes to terms?

Drew,
You need to know the offsets to figure out. Pushing them out with spacers is easy - but likely you'll need to be able to suck them in more - no such thing as a negative spacer though... There is a place in town called Wheel Specialists Inc that can machine wheels... they have some good gear - if there is enough meat on the wheel they can change offsets by machining & increase spindle hub clearance - I saw them doing this on Ferrari wheels - to fit a 355 - last time I was there. There is usually very little room to do this though because most wheels aren't built with a lot of excess hub material so this is only useful if they are very close to fitting anyway. Worry about the fronts - 275 is huge vs 225 stock... on a track car maybe you don't care so much about full lock to lock performance so you may have a bit more leeway...?
These are multi-part wheels though so you could replace the hubs with better fits for offset but that may negate any good deal you got in the first place.... They'd all make good rear wheels more easily - may still make sense for that...

REAR 993 wheels, with 275/40-17 tires..."steam roller" look.
I don't think it looks good with 225 width front tires. I now have 255 rear tires in Falken Azenis RE615 and the difference is night and day. The 275 Yokos had half the grip of the new Falkens.

You need an offset around 73mm to get a 275 to fit up front.

I have 245/45/16 all the way around currently and by looking at the front - again - 275 with negative offest still looks like it might be "pushing" it without flaring the fender.
I decided to pass on this set - anyone interested - Ill point you in the right direction.
Thanks for the replys.

Drewster -
Looks like you MIGHT need an alignment...you have MINOR inner wear!
PS - Since you're passing...how much are they - and where are they located.

A cat named Scott (seems to come across as a decent person) is going to ask 2500 on Ebay but offered them to me at 2200 plus shipping. He's standing firm on the 2200.
