Finished Product Pictures Straight corners on the Glove Box door
Instead of just covering this old glove box door, I decided to see if I could straighten it and bring back some nice even corners.
When taking off the old leather I found not only was it warped, the plastic undereath was bubbled and peeling. I couldn't just cover it knowing the bubbles would eventually show through so I started another project.
I cut away all the bad plastic leaving just the foam made a form for the corners with ABS plastic and filled it with SEM Flexible Polyester Glaze.
After about 3 minutes I took the form off and sculpted the corners with an exacto knife. Another 10 minutes later I sanded it smooth.
It came out pretty good and I'm surprised how strong the bond is. I even whacked it a few times and it holds up well.

Nice job Rob.
I noticed that the core you used was previously covered in leather, which give your both plastic trims to cover the area around the lock and inside the door.
For those who want to cover a door not previously leather, you will be missing those plastic trim pieces. They are available from the big 3 I'm sure and I wrote a little "how-to" to explain the problem: Glove Box Door How-to
I also devised another way of doing the lock surround for those who want a custom look.

Paul,
You wouldn't happen to have a picture of that glove box installed on a leather dash, would you? Awesome work. I think that will be the direction I'll head when I finally send you all my pieces.

With all of the projects going on (interior mods and pieces, SCs, Turbos, exhausts, mechanicals, etc.) this is truly a great time to be a 928 owner. It seems like that there will be more options/parts/mods available in 2007 than there were 20 years ago in 1987 when production of the 928 was reaching it's peak. Unbelievable. Thanks to all you guys!!

Now if I could only get the guys to move faster on those prototypes.
Despite what you read about Michigan, the engineering firms and machine shops are real busy working on stuff for the big 3. They do a lot of one offs and prototype work.
Once they figure out I'm not associated with Porsche, my stuff gets the back burner.
Although I have been lucky and found a couple that want the business.
