Default 93 GTS takes second in Zone 1 Concours

Showed both my cars this weekend at the PCA Zone 1 Concour in Danbury Ct this weekend. Full concour on the GTS and Peoples choice with the turbo. Took second in both catagories.

The GTS did very well loosing out to a very clean OB that looked better than most cars do from the factory. He had 298 points out of 300. My wife and I spent half a day Saturday cleaning the car before the show on Sunday. Despite traveling in the rain to get there and the on off showers all day Saturday we managed to clean the car to the point where we received 296.5 out of 300 points. A few tenbths hear and there for stupid stuff add up fast.

I spent a lot of time cleaning the turbo as my wife cleaned the GTS and she had enough after a few hours so some areas were not as good as they could have been. She would not touch the engine compartment.

In the end after the judge who does all the PCA Parades looked over the car and I expected him to rip us to pieces came over and said "very nice car bring it to the Parade you will do well with a little more work". To me that was the best compliment I could have received. The Amazon Green/Tan combo got a lot of attention even after sitting next to a gorgeous Horizon Blue/Blue S4 from Canada.

I brought my camera but foolishly forgot the CF card so no pictures. If anyone was there and has some pictures of the event please post.

Thanks

Don't worry it will cost me in the end.

We got home and she said she had a great time but would not do that more than once a year.

Great job to both you and your wife. Especially after driving in the rain to get there.

Thanks,

I think when I retire i might start a small business detailing cars to that level. It is a **** load of work but very gratifying.

The Zone 1 was lots of fun met so many very nice people and so many real nice Porsche's. Really bummed I forgot the card for the camera.

Still no pics of the car although I found a link to some pictures from the event.

You can see the back end of the GTS in one picture next to a beautiful Horizon Blue S4. The red 914 next to the GTS has 22k original miles, one owner car. looks like it is still in the showroom.

Default Pictures

Just found a link with some pictures if anyone is interested. Only engine shots of the GTS but other pictures form local events and Concours included.

GTS engine pictures are on page 5.

Anthony
Looking good....are those original air intake tubes or did you replace them....they look to be in great shape! Also Amazon green is a SWEET color....I like how it changes between green-blue depending on the lighting....

Thanks,
It is a lot of work as we all know to keep these things looking so nice. Well worth the effort though.

I bought a new set of intake tubes about a year ago. The original set is still in good shape but are showing their age. I swap out the tubes for shows, you never know when they might discontinue these things, then you are SOL.

I wasn't up on the Amazon when I first saw it but it has grown on me and now there are few colors I would trade it for. I love these pearlescent paints. The Amazon goes real well with the Cashmere interior and so far as I know this might be the only US GTS with this color combo. For almost 60k miles the paint just gleams. It is always nice to be able to buy a car that was so well cared for by its PO's.

I wish I had brought the card for my camera so I could have taken more shots. After driving the car the past few weeks it just isn't quite as clean as that weekend, but admiring its looks is only half the fun.

Thanks,
