Default Road America

Mark I would love to go to Laguna, but both of us are on a limited budget, last time my car had 270 rwhp and you had ~320 rwhp and after 3 laps we had the whole front straight at RA between us, what do you think this will do with ~370 rwhp???? and don't tell me about bad tires or traffic....... I had a good fight with Josef (in Ron's car, now Paul car) before I passed him in the kink, ask Josef how I drive he knows........ and my car is working good now
Anyway hope to see you again on any tracks, this is always nice to compete with other 928.

'''''''''''tell you what, you can run your 350-375 rwhp and come out to laguna and see how you do! Ill pay for your flight if you win!

all the other RA'ers, need to come out to california. I came out last time, now its your turn!'''''''''''''

hey, i didnt believe it either, but try driving on street tires, thats what those hossiers were like. I had no reference points, and hadnt used them before, and certainly didnt have any experience or very many laps at RA. trust me, when i got back, 3 seconds off at a 3 mile track (t-hill) and 2 seconds off Laguna before i stuck on the much better, used Toyo RA1s and felt the difference. the same guys i run with all year long are either top 10 speedWC touring cars and they break 2:30 often at RA, and i always beat them, or at least equal their time. as a refernce point, Anderson , who was always in the 2:24 range, used toyo T1S and ran 2:30 in a world challenge race at RA.
when a set is gone, they are GONE!

you did have 270rwhp, my car was in the 315rwhp range, and barely pulled down the straight. (i got all of our video) you got me in the kink, but actually we were pretty even through out the weekend, and my time was only slightly better. (due to the HP advantage , minus the tire disadvantage) you and Joe (rons car) also were playing with brand new hooseirs. still 1 more second than ive ever been able to realize with used toyos.

There is no question at road america, those tires were at least as a detriment as they are at laguna, 2seconds, but probaby more like 4 seconds as its a 4 mile track.

I dont know what 350rwhp will buy you, but im sure you will be in the 2:30 range. also keep in mind, time wise, it was a hot and humid day. I was drenched after our race. comared to other weekends, it was a low power day too due to the heat. (but its all relative.) Anderson couldnt come close to his best time by over 3 seconds. If you look our lap times, all of us were pretty close witih Joe having good track knowledge and new hooseirs posting the best times by 1.5 seconds over us. I was in traffic most the entire race in catching up to you guys, until you overheated.

so, enough excuses. Im alwasy up for a challenge. 350rwhp is no problem for me to fight against with the holbert car. bring the car out to California, and ill pay for your flight if you win! If i come out there , you better be ready to run sub 2:30 to win.

Hey, you drive well! I had sometime to run with ya over the weekend. (you got me too in the kink in the practice race i think) . that was fun and cant wait to do it again. our cars were pretty even, but i had a little power advantage. however, with those hooseirs in the garbage where they belong, the car is an entirely different animal. again, 3 seconds at Thunderhill pushig my car as hard as i could with both sets. almost undriveable at the limit, but the toyos are like a dream. i can use much less brakes and scrub speed in the turns . NEVER going back to those dumpsters again. only the toyo dumpster! cant believe i tossed away so much time at RA on crummy tires, since it was such an important trip (dream) for me!!!! Live , learn and race!

Hey guys, that was the first time I drove Ron's car (no seat adjustment my knee was hitting the steering wheel) by coming out ahead from both of you, it made my day! Mark K. let's try to make it to RA again this year (Love the track, love the local 928er even more).

Hey, you had my car (basically) with new tires! Plus you and mark are used to running fast at Road America.

Hey, i had a great time, and would do it again in a heart beat. (as long as i can find a transport deal again!)

We should talk about a trip out or sponsoring some of the east coast guys to come out west.

I believe the car has the old tranny not the borg warner 5 speed so it is way weaker than your auto. The Mercedes benz auto should be good for 500rwhp! Time will tell. Drive it like you stole it, squeeze it then rebuild!

Probably a lot of life left! Your car sounds like a lot of fun!
