Greg,

I'd be interested in your old wheels if you decide to sell them.

Sorry Steve, I'm going to keep them as winter wheels/tires. I have the Pilot A/S on them and they'll be good for my infrequent but necessary winter drives.

I can't wait to try these new wheels out on the GTS. They have got to have amazing STICK!! I thought the cornering limits were high with the original sized tires.

Right now I don't think I'll be selling them, sorry guys.

I tried fitting the wheels on for the first time today. I first put one of the back ones on with the original spacer that comes on the GTS, and the tire stuck out beyond the fender about 3/4". Then I took the spacer off and mounted the wheel and the edge of the tire was inside the fender about 1/2" more than the original on the other side. The problem is that it was too close to the inside components and fender liner. It looks like a 1/2" spacer would be perfect.

Mark, from 928 International, told me that they sell three sizes of spacers, 21mm, 25mm, and 38mm. 38mm is what is on there now. I think the 21mm would be about 3/4" and might be slightly too much. The tire might be too close to the fender.

It's a very tight fit. I couldn't believe how much rubber that is under there. Too much really. I didn't want that much width, just the 18" 5-spoke rims.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

The front ones fit on fairly good, but they stick out farther than the original ones by about 3/4". I couldn't tell how this is going to work because when we let the car down, the right height was way high.

21mm = .826" Is that the thinnest spacer available?

Drive the car around some twisty/bumpy roads for 50-100 miles to settle the suspension. After that remeasure.

GT spacers are 17mm. Go with aftermarket. You'll spend a lot less money unless you find a good price on used 928 spacers. I just picked up some 15mm spacers at SITM for the price of a few beers.

One idea you won't like is to get Carrera III wheels from a 997 in 8x10 -18. The 10" and a smaller tire will fit without a problem. I just put these on my GT, pics are in another thread.

If you decide to work on getting these to fit, be very careful about taking sidewall tire flex and suspension movement into account. What looks like a good fit with room to spare in your garage will rub under spirited driving conditions or track work. The low profile of the tire will help minimize this problem, but it is still amazing how much things move around under heavy loads. When I fit 18" wheels on my 911 I had to make repeated trips to the skid pad and then the track to get things right, even though they passed a visual test in the garage.

Can't. The wheel studs are too long to attach the new wheels to, and I don't want to change the studs until I know for sure what I'm going to be using for spacers, and if I'm even going to use these wheels.

I'm afraid I may have to get different wheels. I'm surprised by how many people were sure this tire/wheel set was going to fit withou a problem, yet there seems to be VERY LITTLE space around the tires once they're up in the wheel well.

I feel the same way about clearances and movement of the tires with spirited driving.

I don't understand how people can say they fit wheels that are only slightly smaller than mine on S4's and GT's without the GTS 1.5" fender flares? Or why the fender flares aren't allowing my wheels to fit better? One thing's for sure, there are descrepencies with the information circulating around about what wheels fit what cars.

The expensive plastic rear inner fender liners fitted on the GTS greatly reduce the amount of tire clearance.
