My oil pressure gauge used to peg to number five at start up--this was cured by replacing the sender.
Recently, the gauge once again pegs to number five at start up, but the needle will drop to only 3 when the car is shut off, and then will continue to twitch around the 3 mark. This continues until the digital display closes out after a minute or so and then the needle falls to zero.
I will be replacing the pod in the next few weeks, so any thoughts while I have the display out of the car?

David, pretty expensive part on an '89+ to have to keep replacing, BTDT. On my digital dash I was having trouble with my temp gauge. It would work fine then drop to zero. Couple good wacks on the side of the pod would restore it. I finally pulled my dash and discovered the problem. On the digital dashes the connections are just pressure tabs. I pulled the panel off and took a needle nosed pliers and sqweezed the connections together so they had better contact when it went back together and it works fine now. One word of caution, I pulled all the bulbs and wiped them clean and I had one display light not work after it was all reassembled. Bought a new bulb, put it in, reassembled and it still didn't work. Turns out that it wasn't seated exactly where it had been for the last 17 years and there must have been just enough oxidation on the board to keep it from making contact. I'm pretty good at pulling the dash out now.
