Default S4 Fuel line replacement

Hi all,

Are these 3 lines the ones I need to freshen in my 88 S4?
Hoses 6, 7 and maybe 10.

I do enjoy a good barbeque but would hate to attend a shark roast.

Ernest (NYC) Keep throwing new parts at the 928.

Also number 8. Some cars have 10a instead of 10

8 is more important than 10. 8 is the high pressure supply line. 10 is the return line. I doubt you'll need 6 or 7, but may be worth it WYAIT. They run at rail pressure, but don't see the heat or vibration of 8.

38 and 22 are also an important pieces. They are the means by which 8 is clamped to the water crossover bridge to help isolate 8 from vibration. I have been told that leaving 8 unclamped is a bad thing as fuel lines do not like to vibrate. I've seen a few cases where apparently the previous tech was in a bit of a hurry when the crossover bridge was out...

There is a "U" hose that connects to part #9 that mybe a 7mm hose, that I would reccommend, about $10 from 928 International.

Ernest,

Just get them rebuilt at classic tube. www.classictube.com
They do an awesome job, they're the only one I could find that do fuel lines. My lines came back all new with new plating on the connetors, etc. Not sure if there is any tube they cannont rebuild or replicate. Good luck!

Oh yeah, I bet you'll be able to get all the lines done for less than the cost of one new hose.

When having these fuel lines rebuilt, is everyone using fuel injector hose crimped onto the original fittings? Isn't FI hose rated over 100 psi?

I think most FI hoses available at NAPA, AutoZ etc are rated at about 50 PSI or so. Check with Carl, his is rated at 150+ PSI I believe.

When I did mine 7 was in really bad shape. I still have a couple more to do when I take the intake off. I would replace all of them, it is cheap insurance.

Here is a link to some pictures of my fuel lines that came off of my 87.

Use EFI hose from an autoparts store along with EFI clamps. Strip the existing hoses and use the end fittings. The Porsche design is not good and one reason why there are fuel fires. The latest hose technology plus the far superior end fitting will save your car one day.
Plus all four hoses can be changes for about $20. See this thread
https://rennlist.com/forums/928-forum/307627-u-shaped-fuel-line-between-rails.html
Three of the four hoses are hidden from view and very difficult to check.
I replaced No6 with the Porsche hose for $20 because I can keep a regular check on it and it looks cosmetically better as Porsche use a collar that has no other function other than cosmetic, and the rest I used the EFI hose & clamp solution.
I have one burnt out car in my collection do not want another one.

The Porsche hose fitting is just a push fit and there is no clamp or collar to hold the hose in place. Its an OK design but antiquated. The collar is cosmetic and has no other function.

Hi guys !

My line #8 has been cutted on 20 cm and repaired with a hose two years ago. Yesterday, the hose disconnected from the metal line... Hopefully, no fire !!

I want to change it asap, but it is no more available in Pelican Parts or Rose Passion.

Do you know where to find it ? Thank you

Roger rebuilds these and does a very nice job. Alternatively, Greg makes a whole new line that is also great, but it's without the hard-line, if originality is important to you.

Good luck
