Help - I've lost my only 928 key!!!
Well, I'm an idiot. I've lost my only 928 key. Anyone here ever had this problem? What did you do? The car is locked in my driveway, and I have no clue where to start.

If all else fails, I ordered one for mine from the dealer with the VIN and it works perfectly. It was around $90 with the lighted head. If I recall correctly, it took about a week to deliver. The one I got with the car was so worn it took a lot of coaxing to get it to work. I kept it for a spare in case of emergency. Good luck.

One thing to consider is that there is no guarantee that it will work. If it doesn't, it will become nothing more than an expensive trinket. You will have to pay for it in advance and it's yours to keep whether it works or not. If your ignition switch is still original then you're probably safe. If your lost key fit all the locks then it's a good bet it's original because rekeying everything would have been a might pricey.

Might I suggest a quality lightweight, aluminum 'D' ring now that the horse has left the barn.
Don't feel like an idiot ... be one!
But, fear not, you won't be alone Steveo ... I too must admit to having only one key.
APPARENTLY, there are others like us.
Mayhaps: We are related by blood the Crusade bound noblemen of the middle ages.

The only reason there was but one key for Ye Olde Chastity belt was ?

Then again maybe THEY were just to cheap or lazy to have the second key made.

Any chance you locked the keys in the car? You may want to call AAA to slip jim or use the infamous secret opening to get in before ordering a new key from the dealer. just my 1.5 cents

I bought my shark with two worn keys- ordered 2 from Porsche dealership- neither worked- too them with original key to D & E locksmiths- 510-522 4766- locksmith looked at orioginal key, made notes on numberfs, and made 3 keys that worked perfectly- including a wallet key I carry separately.

Steve, are you sure the key isn't in the ignition switch? '88 and older cars have a way of mysteriously locking the doorlocks at times, it has happened to a lot of people here.

Steve,
I ordered a key from the local dealership here about 2 years ago for my 79. Perfect fit! In fact, the original key was so worn down, I'd have to jiggle it to get it in the doors, hatch, and ignition. The new key fit like a charm.
