928 S4 Club-Sport, Sport-Equipment and 1989 GT: Updates
Hi,
I have news about the 928 CSs:
- Official confirmation of the existence of the two US cars.
- Pictures of the 928 GTE, still in South Africa.
- Equipment codes of many cars.
You can read this here.
I would really like to find more about the US cars, specially as I know a Rennlister as sold one...
The VINs are WP0AB092CJS865061 and WP0AB092CJS865062. Both are red.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,
Samuel
PS: Don't hesitate to contact me (928clubsport at free.fr without spaces) if you have any kind of information about these cars. The website is dead but I will work to have a new one online.

Thread resurrection.
My former website is down, and I have not done a new version.
My email is now 928clubsport at free.fr, without spaces and with a @.
I know a lot more about the production cars, prototypes and others special cars since nearly 10 years ago.
Regarding the production cars, I now can confirm that:
- The passenger side mirror was standard.
- The AC was standard, with only a lighter compressor, later used on production 928s.
- The generator and battery are identical to a regular S4.
- The undercoating was the same as a regular S4.
So, it seems that only the first prototype was really extreme, without AC, right mirror and PVC undercoating.
Regarding the two US 1988 cars. They were produced months (end of June 1987) before the regular production cars and I wonder if they were sent to the USA

Roger,
Could-you, please, take a picture of your SE build sticker, under the trunk carpet?
Also, I would need your engine and gearbox number. I already know them from Porsche's data, but would like to confirm that they are original.
Thank you!

Every-time I see the SP at the end of the engine number I go numb with excitement 8>)
I will get the sticker in the boot and the GB number for you.

But you are already number 3 on the list
I used this opportunity to thank people who contact me when they hear about a 928 CS
Most of these cars are now into big Porsche collections, so don't get much exercise.
The exception I know for sure is my former car. My ex-wife uses it quite often, in particular to go the meetings of the Club Porsche 928 de France. I'm 95% sure she will come to the Euro 98 2017 by example.
I hope to convince owners of others CSs (and SEs) to come to this event.
