facing the engine, clockwise is forward, right?
Uhhhhh?


No, standing in front of the car looking at engine, clockwise is top of pulley/crank.... to your right, bottom of pulley to your left. Forwards doesn't come into it. But...

You can confirm you have it correct by putting the car in 1st gear and checking that the wheels push the car forwards and NOT backwards. Note to self - stop doing this before you push yourself in to the wall at the back of your garage.

Perhaps an easier way to remember is - always turn the engine as if you are tightening the crank bolt...
