Broken Driver Door Handle...
Guys ...check this out. I can open my Driver side door easily with no problems, by pulling the lever on the inner door trim. Works like a charm. However...it appears a cheap "Pot-Metal_ part was used for the linkage to the latch from the Outside Door handle, and it has "yielded up its "spirit"...in other words...its BUSTED. Here's a pic courtesy of PET6. I believ its item # 41 thats brokn...Any one ever experience this ? Or EVEN better...have one of these parts that I can buy for my 86.5 ???

Very common failure and lots of threds on thhe subject. The Big 3 all sell the part, and there's how-to's on how to do it. The search function is your friend.
BTDT. You're in for a fun time. Oh yes you are....

Yes Thaddeus.. "I know"...already have pulled the interior door trim to "investigate", and this is what I've come up with. We'll cross each bridge when we come to it. Thank Goodness for John Dozbush...He has this part, and will be shipping it to me tomorrow...can't ask for more than good old John delivers. I'll have this "licked" in no time now... Thanks John, from the bottom of my heart...

WELL...my good friend John Dozbush, has come through for me again fellas. I received just before noon today, by overnight delivery...the replacement piece I need to fix the outside door handle release on my 86.5. He even included the linkage arm, and the mounting nuts, for this piece (which I didn't even ask for). I can't say enough good things about John. Since I have HAD this car,... and became a Rennlist member, he has consistantly, been there for me, with parts, advice and support, I couldn't get elsewhere, (and lots of times the parts were free, as in...No Charge. Sometimes even "shipped" to me for free). He's always sent me a high quality part too. Or else he would just tell me he was sorry, but he didn't have one in usable condition. If he wouldn't put it on his car...He WON'T try and sell it to someone else either. But anyhoo...John has come through for me again. Thanks Buddy.

You guys weren't kidding about the broken door handle ...were ya ??? I tell you what, even after reading George's write up, and every other resource I could find on the subject (pretty limited), this job was a classic 928 PITA. Its Not done yet. But I am back to the re-assembly stage... door trim and stuff. for the most part...the hard part is over. NOW, just to get back to "where were we before we were so RUDELY interrupted" ???

The driver’s door on my car has become increasingly difficult to open. I can still get it opened, but it takes a good tug. Works perfect from the inside so my guess is I need a new door handle release mechanism.
While I’m in there, I want to look at the window tracks or whatever guides the window up and down. While it always goes up and down, it is somewhat wobbly, noisy and much slower than the passenger side.
Also, the window trim around the outer perimeter has a 15 inch split/tear and hangs down when the window is open. I’ll add that to the list.
One last thing is the little courtesy/safety light in the door jam is missing. I have one of those in stock so now will be a good time to install.
Anything else I should be looking at while I’m in there? Any tips, advice or links would be greatly appreciated.
