Default The Man, the Myth, the Moron...

I have to tell this tale.

Yesterday, Troy and I ventured to the Mystical land of Rob Hack. Otherwise known as New Jersey. We were lured by the fables of good deals on 85 Euro transmissions.

First, let me say that I have never met one person so full of Bull**** in my entire life. It would be my professional opinion that this person of well known deceit is a bonefied pathological liar. We literally had to hide our laughfter many times listening to him dig one hole after another for himself. (i.e. remember the 6 speed 928 transaxle spiel, or Randall Cunninghams' mothers 86.5 auto)

The 85 euro trans was almost true, just not an 85. Neither is the supposedly 85 euro engine that is sitting, stripped on his engine stand. (M28/12)

The sad fact is this guy knows his stuff, too bad he must conjure up falsehoods to try and sell things. He now claims to be finishing a Masters in Engineering and is selling his business, Motodyne, along with his three houses and moving to Colorado. Whether these tales are true, I don't know but when dealing with Mr. Hack (a tall, chubby, early 30 something dude) CAVEAT EMPTOR. I'm sure we will be seeing more parts for sale by him soon.

And if Rob is reading this post, you didn't really think I was that innocent now did you?

Dr. Scott. Please give us more details. I am one of the people who has been taken advantage of by this guy. I would love to hear all the tall tales he told.

Scott--

Did he try to take your money anyway?

Just curious to see if there's a pattern.

Eric Munck... is not tall...at all... or early thirties... and even though I was not happy with the S/C kit I got from Eric... I wouldn't say he was dishonest... probably a over his head but not dishonest.

Also I dont think Eric could move to NJ from CA cause his ranch has about 40 rescued Dobberman Pincers

Mind you, I went there knowing this guys reputation so I was on my best behavior. (I like to play dumb and let the seller set his own trap). Of course, crooked people always like to mention how honest or 'not crooked' they are. And he was certainly no exception.

I ended up buying the trans and all its related parts plus many extras for a fairly good amount less than what he wanted. And that was only after a thorough inspection and a phone call to my favorite parts supplier to verify info.

He first tried to tell me it was an 85 euro box, I called him on that after inspecting the numbers, and that it had been rebuilt by 928Intl or Devek, he couldn't remember. I busted him on that as well. He then said he was a master Toyota mechanic with training in Europe on a race team but couldn't tell me where or what team. He has a tore down 16v motor on a stand claiming it to be a euro S motor. But it is a M28/12 stamp. He tried to prove to me it was a LH motor by showing me a L-jet cpu. All the time I'm elbowing my buddy trying not to split a gut.

Fabio, sorry to hear you got hosed. The black 86.5 is his. Oddly, the Ebay auction fairly closely describes the car. Paint a 7/10, interior maybe a 7-8/10 with good rear 1/4 panels and seats. He did say he'd take 5k for it.

Dr. Bob; I was lucky to live within driving distance so I showed up with cash. No deposits from me. Plus, I took Troy along. He's ugly and smelly enough to disuade any confrontations.

Unless you can physically look/touch/drive his items, I'd avoid 'em, on reputation alone. He couldn't find the firewall pieces that were to come with the package but said he would get me a set and send them to me. I'll just hold my breath.

Why do people have to be this way?

SVP;

Not that I direly needed the pieces, just that they should've come with the deal and his promise to send them is laughable.

When I die, I'll have one thing to take with me... my word.

Reason I ask, is it sounded like you might be going to do an auto-to 5sp swap, and I have a pattern for the hole in the firewall, should someone need it.
