Aston... why I did NOT take delivery of the AM-V8
I had a March delivery of an Aston V8 from Bauer Aston Martin in Santa Rosa... Here are the reasons I did NOT invest in the Aston, instead investing a bit more in my 928... keep in mind I already have a proper Aston (see pict),... Hand Made - Soft Leathers - eal Wood - an interior that is more comfortable than my living room and the smell... English luxury...
The AM-V8 when I went to the premiere showing in December, looked great, probably better than any car I've ever seen. The interior was a variety of styles especially in the rear... just did not work for me... Aston claims no plastic in the interior... My watch scrapped against the aluminum band along the door and about 1/4" of plastic chipped off of the fake aluminum... the door window switches looked like they were from an MG... the leather was not near the quality of my Aston, and they decided to NOT offer those great Aston woods in the interior as an option... in fact there was something very Porsche-like about the interior. I think the lack of woods was the main problem, as sitting in the DB9 it felt very Aston-Like. The engine... low HP (by todays standards), low torque high reving... I could get used to it, but 16MPG? The Z06 Vette has a 130 HP advantage and gets 11 MPG better... hey Aston.... what gives. If I did not already have a proper Aston that feels like an Aston and if the car got better economy... I'd probably be driving one by now. Give a year (if Aston is smart) you see a 500HP version that actually is efficient then if the offer woods and a bit better leather work...

Well, if we are to suspend reality, then definitely a Ferrari 550 or 575 Maranello. Damn, the lines on those are SWEEEEET.
But in reality, I can't afford any other car that would replace the 928. So be it.

Actually, I did seriously think about replacing the 928 with either a Rangie or an X?-R. The Jag XK's seats are too short for my thighs, and the XK is too claustraphobic and rather old-tech (even compared to the 928). The Rangie seems very similar to the 928 in it's maintenance needs, including the vacuum system (albeit for the air suspension) and the electrical woes.
So, I'm paying someone else to do timing belt/water pump/12,000 mile service/rear knock sensor/manifold stuff R&R and will save for a supercharger!

Malibu, I'm sorry but I think you would be hard pressed to find anyone else agreeing with you that a Lagonda is a proper Aston. The only other Aston made in the last 35 years that might be considered equally disappointing would be a DBS 6 with an automatic and zenith carbs.

Anything with a fare market value higher than the nicest 928GTS - sell it, then buy the 928.
If I had to keep it over a 928 - Any new Aston Martin would do, or an all original 427 Shelby Cobra.

I too like the 575 but do not fit (no leg room) and I know of a guy locally that had such a lemon that Ferrari actually bought the car back from him. Another friend of mine had a 360 and hated it because it was so unreliable.
Anyone know what AM's reputation is for reliability/dependability?

It's really odd - I was never too excited about the Astons in the past, except the Lagonda.
Now I need some suggestions on what to do to be able to afford the V8 Vantage in the future... Hooked On Cars is not doing it, and my other occupation isn't either. Hmmm... Robert Kyosaki says that such Luxuries should be paid for by residual income from investments.
